Made new friends and kept the old at Picturehouse

(A little advice I learned as a girl scout!)

Last week I met up with Dorian and Maggie in New York to attend the Picturehouse event where we met with old friends of StockShop and made new ones too (including a representative from the Girl Scouts of America believe it or not)!

We passed out yo-yos as a little something to remember us by and as this photo clearly shows Dorian and I had as much fun with them as the recipients. They were gone by days end so it's a good thing I have one stashed in my desk drawer.

We enjoyed meeting clients, creative directors, art buyers and researchers face to face and sharing more information about StockShop, our services and our collection made up of diverse imagery from our fantastic contributing photographers.

The event was held at the Metropolitan Pavilion in Chelsea which allowed me (and my husband who helped us out at the show) the opportunity to stroll along the new High Line park on our way to the event.  We loved the design and the views were stunning.  It offers a new perspective on an already awesome city.

During my NY visit the skies were clear and the air briskly refreshing.  The rain waited until my last day in town to usher me to the airport. When I arrived back in LA I was met by 90 degree weather.  At least I got a taste of Fall for a few days.

Next week I'll be flying in to meet up with my colleague, Dorian Romer (SVP Sales and Marketing). We'll be attending Picturehouse at the Metropolitan Pavilion where we look forward to meeting with art directors, editors, publishers, graphic designers and researchers, from all market sectors, from editorial and publishing to advertising and design.

Lovely time with StockShop photographers!

Last week, Maggie (StockShop pres.) made a trip out to my neck of the woods in Los Angeles, CA (aka StockShop West).  We got a lot accomplished but also made sure to have some fun too!  While in town, we hosted a wine and cheese gathering in Santa Monica for our local photographers.  As you can see, we had a fabulous time!  It's always great to spend face to face time with our talented contributors and I think they enjoy getting to see and/or meet one another too!  

If you find yourself in our neighborhood (Boston or LA) be sure to give us a shout & we'll do the same if we find ourselves in yours.  We're always eager to see your new work and catch up over lunch or a cup of coffee.

What do Pres. Obama, Maggie Hunt, and CEPIC have in common?

Answer: They were all in Dresden, Germany last week!

That's right StockShop president, Maggie Hunt traveled to Germany last week to attend the annual CEPIC Congress which just so happened to overlap with President Obama's visit to Dresden.

Despite being trapped in her hotel by heightened security while Obama was across the street visiting the Frauenkirche, Maggie succeeded in meeting with potential overseas distributors at CEPIC for StockShop's new royalty free collection!

CEPIC (The Coordination of European Picture Agencies Press Stock Heritage) represents over 1,000 picture sources (primarily stock licensing companies) in Europe with members from most different European countries.  They host an annual trade event in various European cities bringing these agencies together.

Christina Ghubril - much more than just a pretty face.

You may recognize her from several StockShop images taken by photographer Laura Rose but Christina Ghubril does much more than model.  She admittedly wears multiple artistic hats including those of an actor, writer, singer/songwriter, director and photographer.

Fat wallet syndrome - a pain in the buttocks?

Seriously, what would I do without the plethora of information on Wikipedia?

Today in my web wanderings I learned about a condition called Piriformis syndrome which according to wikipedia "is a neuromuscular disorder that occurs when the sciatic nerve is compressed or otherwise irritated by the piriformis muscle causing pain, tingling and numbness in the buttocks" and is "also known as wallet sciatica or fat wallet syndrome, as the condition can be caused or aggravated by sitting with a large wallet in the affected side's rear pocket."

Hummm...I wonder how many people are suffering from this disorder these days??  I'm guessing fewer and fewer.

StockShop president, Maggie Fellner Hunt at PACA Conference

StockShop president, Maggie Fellner Hunt moderated the art buyers’ panel at the PACA (Picture Archive Council of America) International Conference held on October 25th.

The 13th annual conference was hosted in the Big Apple from October 24-26. New York City's world-famous Financial District, which houses many of the nation's major financial institutions, served as the backdrop for this year's Conference. The atmosphere fostered business innovation and collaboration and the program included the popular art buyers' panel, a discussion on distributor relations, and current technological trends.
